DAVID COFFEE* as EBENEZER SCROOGE, a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone. A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner. ROBERT ROKICKI as YOUNG SCROOGE, a clever chap, bright of face and filled with great potential, (also Christmas Future). PAUL CASTREE* as FRED, handsome nephew of old Scrooge, with a cheerful voice and sparkling eyes. JENNIFER BABIAK as MEG, Fred's wife, very pretty with a dimpled, surprised look. NILI BASSMAN* as BELLE, Young Scrooge's betrothed, a fair maiden, beaming and loveable. JESSICA McDONOUGH as FAN, Scrooge's sister, brimful of glee.

KEVIN KRAFT* as NARRATOR , the teller of this ghostly tale. TODD GROSS* as BOB CRATCHIT, a clerk in the service of Ebenezer Scrooge and the father of a fine family. MAUREEN BRENNAN* as MRS. CRATCHIT, Bob's wife, poor in possessions but rich in family, (also Christmas Past). EMMA BARBIN as MARTHA CRATCHIT, oldest of the Cratchit daughters, (also Christmas Past's attendant). TOM STAGGS* as JACOB MARLEY, Scrooge's first and only business partner; dead as a doornail. MAUREEN BRENNAN* as THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST, the first of the three spirits, a strange figure - resplendent in stars, (also Mrs. Cratchit). GEORGE DVORSKY* as THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT, a jolly giant, glorious to behold, (also Gentlemen 1). ROBERT ROKICKI as THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS YET TO COME, Scrooge's nightmare of himself as a young man, (also Young Scrooge). KATHY MEYER*, TABB NACE* and STANLEY SILVERMAN (violin), as PEARLIES, acrobatic street entertainers who perform for donations to help London's poor. One is a violinist who accents many scenes with underscoring. Pearlies long topcoats were typically covered with pearl buttons, hence the name. In our story, they help the narrator tell the tale by becoming timeless characters who attend the Spirits and help move the action of the play.

David Coffee* (Scrooge) WITH NSMT: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, A Christmas Carol (1992-2000), Phantom (1992 and 1994), Singin' In the Rain, Grand Hotel, Brigadoon, South Pacific, Evita, Good News!, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Will Rogers Follies, West Side Story, Crazy For You, La Cage Aux Folles, The Music Man, and 42nd Street. ELSEWHERE: David is honored to return for his tenth season as Scrooge. Earlier this year, he was featured as Jacob/ Potiphar/ Guru in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at both NSMT and Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas. You may also recall some of his dance moves. Several have anguished over not being able to forget them. This year has also seen David as Benjamin Franklin in "1776" and Honore in Gigi for Casa Manana Musicals. He is also proud of his involvement in Casa's Tomorrow Project this year. David performed in two staged readings of new works: The Revolution of Betsy Loring and The Big Bang. In a career that spans over 30 years, David has been welcomed by audiences at The Granbury Opera House, The Goodspeed Opera House, The American Musical Theatre of San Jose and you, the good folks at NSMT. Kevin Kraft* (Narrator) WITH NSMT: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ELSEWHERE: Kevin played Brother Gad and the Butler in Joseph ... and returns to NSMT after playing Homer in Floyd Collins at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. Favorite roles include Paul in Barefoot in the Park, Halle in Master Harold and the Boys and Simon in Hayfever. He has played Danny, Eugene and Teen Angel in separate productions of Grease! He stood by for (and performed) the role of Hero in the 1996 Broadway Revival of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Other career highlights include Phil Hall's Jekyll & Hyde at Papermill Playhouse, the Disney workshop production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and a recurring spot on All My Children.
George Dvorsky* (Ghost of Christmas Present) WITH NSMT: Secret Garden,1776,My One and Only, Damn Yankees, Oklahoma, Brigadoon, On the Town, Grand Night for Singing, and 10 years as the Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol. ELSEWHERE: George most recently starred as Pete Bartel in the off- Broadway hit Pete N Keely. Broadway roles include The Scarlet Pimpernel, the revival of Gentleman Prefer Blondes, Passion, Marilyn: An American Fable and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Off-Broadway credits include the revival of Dames at Sea and And The World Goes ‘Round. George starred in the NYC Premiere of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella as Prince Charming at Lincoln Center where he also played Tommy in Brigadoon. He also starred as Billy Crocker opposite Chita Rivera in Anything Goes at the Paper Mill Playhouse. He starred with Bea Arthur and the Boston Pops in Bernstein's Broadway on PBS. Maureen Brennan* (Mrs. Cratchit/Ghost of Christmas Past) WITH NSMT: A Christmas Carol '99,'00, Showboat, My Fair Lady, Penelope. ELSEWHERE: Maureen has appeared on Broadway in Candide, for which she received a Tony nomination and Theatre World Award; Going Up, Knickerbocker Holiday, Little Johnny Jones, and Stardust. She toured nationally as Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, as well as performing in many of the nation's regional theaters doing such favorites as You Can't Take It With You, Annie Get Your Gun, She Loves Me, Carousel, 42nd Street and I Do, I Do. She has been a featured soloist with renowned symphony orchestras including most recently the Boston Pops, Baltimore, Detroit, Minnesota, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh Symphonies. Ms. Brennan can also be heard on the soundtrack recordings of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." She is currently a member of the Theater faculty at The Boston Conservatory. Maureen is thrilled to be back at NSMT once again. Joyous holidays to all!
Tom Staggs* (Jacob Marley) WITH NSMT: Fiddler on the Roof, A Christmas Carol ‘99, ‘00. ELSEWHERE: Tom is happy to be appearing in A Christmas Carol at NSMT for the third straight year. Tom is a member of Gorilla Repertory Theatre in New York City where he makes his home. Gorilla Rep shows include The Death of King Arthur (world premiere) Cymbeline, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Henry IV P.2. Also in New York: The Woman, Hedda Gabler, Woyzcek, and Spin. In the U.K. he appeared in Lady Windermere's Fan and Blue Window. Television credits include Saturday Night Live and Manhattan Crawl. Tom trained at the University of Illinois and at Drama Studio London.
Rob Rokicki (Young Scrooge, Ghost of Christmas Future) WITH NSMT: Student Prince ELSEWHERE: Rob is thrilled to be back at NSMT. Recently he was seen at Lincoln Center in Babes in Toyland. Regionally, he has also worked at Music Theatre of Wichita. Favorite roles include: Prez in The Pajama Game, Terry in Side Show, and John Proctor in The Crucible. Todd Gross* (Bob Cratchit) WITH NSMT Fiddler on the Roof, A Christmas Carol ‘00, ELSEWHERE: Todd was most recently seen as Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors at the Lycian Center for the Performing Arts. On Broadway, Todd played the role of Bob Cratchit for 2 seasons in A Christmas Carol at New York's Madison Square Garden opposite the Scrooges of: Roddy McDowall, Hal Linden and Roger Daltry. His touring credits include playing 2nd Officer Charles Lightoller in the 1st National Company of Titanic and My Fair Lady starring Richard Chamberlain. New York Workshops include Anna Karenina (Levin, Circle in the Square) and Brothers (Emil Bernhard, Home for Contemporary Arts). Regionally Todd has appeared in the R.I. Shakespeare Festival, AMTF, McCarter Theatre, American Stage Com., and Theatre Virginia. He was seen in the world premiere of Joshua Sobel's Ghetto and Harry Parch's Revelation in the Courthouse Park(CD). His television credits include Sex in the City, Trinity and Sesame Street.
Paul Castree* (Fred) WITH NSMT: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ELSEWHERE: Paul is thrilled to be back at NSMT after playing Reuben in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this past summer. Broadway: Original casts of Saturday Night Fever (Bobby C), Footloose (Garvin), The Scarlet Pimpernel and Grease! (Eugene) starring Rosie O'Donnell. National Tour: Bye, Bye Birdie (Harvey Johnson) starring Tommy Tune and Ann Reinking. Off-Broadway/ Regional: Forever Plaid (Jinx) - L.A. Ovation and Dora Award (Best Actor in a Musical). TV: Caroline in the City (Caroline's Brother Chris). In September, Paul performed the role of Dave (Cadillac Car) on Broadway in the 20th Anniversary Concert production of Dreamgirls.
Cheryl McMahon* (Mrs. Dilbur/ Mrs. Fezziwig/Mrs. Tugby) WITH NSMT:A Christmas Carol ‘89, ‘91-‘93, ‘95-‘00, Sweeney Todd, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Alice in Wonderland, The Student Prince. ELSEWHERE: Boston audiences may remember Cheryl as Reverend Mother in Nunsense, both at the Charles Playhouse and at the American Stage Festival. Also, at the Charles, Cheryl periodically appears in Boston's longest running comedy, Shear Madness. Most recently, Cheryl has appeared at the American Stage Festival as Domina in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. She was also featured at the Lyric West Theater in Alan Ayckbourn's comedy, Relatively Speaking. Before that Cheryl portrayed Marilla in Anne of Green Gables at the Wheelock Family Theater. At Boston's Publick Theater she played the role of the mother in the musical Nine. Other greater Boston theaters include: the Worcester Foothills Theater, New Repertory Theater, and the Gloucester Stage Company. At the Hasty Pudding Theater, Cheryl has appeared in the critically acclaimed production of Cabaret as a replacement for Mamie Nixon, in the role of Fraulein Schneider. Also at the Pudding, she performed in the Boston premier of Yiddle with a Fiddle, starring Emily Loesser, which then toured in Florida. Cheryl is co- author and is featured in Been There, Done That, Can I Have Directions, a musical tribute to Motherhood. Much thanks to NSMT and much love to her family.
Kathy Meyer* (Pearlie) WITH NSMT: Carousel, Sweet Charity, Grease, Victor/Victoria, Kismet, A Christmas Carol ('96, '98 - ‘00), West Side Story, 42nd Street. ELSEWHERE: Kathy most recently was the assistant choreographer on Miss Saigon here at NSMT. She was last seen here earlier this season performing the role of Louise in Carousel. Kathy spent her summer in Pittsburgh Performing the roles of Maggie in Brigadoon and Kathy in Company at the Benedum Center. She has been the assistant choreographer to Barry Ivan for the last 5 years. Some of her favorite roles and projects along the way include Anybodys in West Side Story, Frenchy in Grease, Phylis in 42nd Street and a good old chorus girl in Victor/Victoria. This is Kathy's 12th show here at NSMT and she has loved every one of them along the way. She sends her love and thanks to the staff here at NSMT.
Tabb* (Pearlie) WITH NSMT: A Christmas Carol ‘95-‘97 ELSEWHERE: Tabb is literally flipping over his return to NSMT in A Christmas Carol. In the past few years of his absence here, he could be found in European Productions of West Side Story, Disney World's Beauty and the Beast, Jolly Holidays and Festival of The Lion King. He has performed in NYC, Washington DC, Baltimore, and Miami for Joe Lanteri's Broadway Exchange, as well as Assisting Director/Choreographer on NCT Cinderella. Paul J. Gallagher* (Mr. Fezziwig, Gentleman 2) WITH NSMT: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fiddler on the Roof, A Christmas Carol '96-‘00 , The Most Happy Fella, Phantom, Where's Charley? Carnival, Annie. ELSEWHERE: Paul is thrilled to be back at NSMT where last summer he played the Baker/Issachar in Joseph. He toured with both Livent's production of Joseph..., starring Donny Osmond, and the Broadway tour of Joseph..., starring Sam Harris . He just finished working a four-month run of Brigadoon at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam Connecticut. Other credits include: Radio City Christmas Spectacular (Santa) Radio City Music Hall NYC, Off- Broadway production of On A clear Day ... (Solicitor). Tours include: Jesus Christ Superstar (Herod), My Fair Lady (Zoltan Karpathy), The Most Happy Fella (Pasquale), Phantom and My Fair Lady (Jamie). Regional: World Premiere of The Prince and The Pauper (Lord), Annie (Bert Healy), Phantom, Sweeney Todd (Beadle), The Merry Widow (Novikovich), How it was Done in Odessa (Innkeeper). Nili Bassman* (Belle) WITH NSMT: Debut ELSEWHERE: Nili is excited to make her NSMT debut! Other regional credits include Brigadoon (Jean) and No, No, Nannette (Winnie understudy) at the Goodspeed Opera House; leading roles in East of the Sun, West of the Moon and Dream Child at the Kennedy Center; several shows with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera; and a guest solo appearance with Marvin Hamlisch and the Pittsburgh Pops. Nili portrayed Ginger Rogers in the pre-Broadway workshop of Ginger, (Marshall Mason, dir.) co-starring with Donna McKechnie and Randy Skinner. New York theater credits include Manhattan Theater Source, Blue Roses Productions, Confluence Theater Company, The Blue Heron Film and TV credits include leading roles in The Christmas Tree (Sally Field, dir.) with Julie Harris and Andrew McCarthy, and in UPN's The Contender (pilot episode), as well as numerous industrials and commercials. Originally from Northern Virginia, Nili has a BFA from Point Park College.
Jennifer Babiak (Meg) WITH NSMT: Debut ELSEWHERE: Originally from Long Island, Jen is thrilled to be making her NSMT debut in A Christmas Carol. She is currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Music at New York University where she performed Maria in West Side Story, and Squeaky Frome in Assassins. Ted Schmitz (Joe) WITH NSMT: Debut ELSEWHERE: A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Ted's favorite roles include Sweeney Todd (Pirelli), Sweet Charity (AU of Charity's lovers), and Company (Paul). Ted is a graduate of Northwestern University and the Manhattan School of Music. Classical credits include Glanni Schicchi (Rinuccio), La Vie Parisienne (Frick/Brazilian), Turn of the Screw (Quint) as well as world premiers of songs by John Musto and Ned Rorem with the New York Festival of Song.
Bryan Perri* (Caroler/Bells) WITH NSMT: A Christmas Carol ‘99-‘00 ELSEWHERE: Bryan recently graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Music under the direction of Greg Ganakas. There he was seen in Forever Plaid (Sparky), Assassins(Booth), West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar and many other shows. Regionally he has been seen in Nunsense A-Men, And The World Goes ‘Round and is thrilled to be returning to his "Christmas-time home" after performing in A Christmas Carol for the last 2 years. Casey Hushion* (Caroler/Bells, dance captain) WITH NSMT: Fiddler on the Roof, Hair, Secret Garden, A Christmas Carol ‘98- ‘00. ELSEWHERE: Most recently Casey was a featured performer with Opera Omaha in their All American concert. This summer she directed And The World Goes ‘Round ant the Cape Fear Regional Theatre and Honky Tonk Angels at the Arundel Bam Playhouse. Casey assistant directed Brigadoon at the Goodspeed Opera House, where she also appeared as Rose in George M!. Casey is delighted to continue the tradition of spending the holiday season with the NSMT family. As always, love to Marc.
Todd Alsup (Caroler/Bells) WITH NSMT: Debut ELSEWHERE: A native of Detroit, Todd is very happy to be making his Debut with NSMT. He holds a Bachelor of Music from New York University where he appeared in numerous productions including The World Goes ‘Round, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Memory of All That: The Songs of George and Ira Gershwin. Pamela Reitnauer (Caroler/Bells) WITH NSMT: Debut ELSEWHERE: Pamela is thrilled to be making her debut in A Christmas Carol. Originally from Pennsylvania, Pamela will graduate this spring from New York University. Recent Credits include The Good Doctor, Barnum, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Little Shop of Horrors. Emma Barbin (Martha Cratchit) WITH NSMT: Debut ELSEWHERE: Emma is in the eighth grade at Briscoe Middle School in Beverly. She is a serious dance student and attends at Mitchell's Dance Studio and Marblehead School of Ballet. Emma loves musical theatre. She has appeared in The Pajama Game, The Sound of Music, Annie Jr., and Schoolhouse Rock Live. Emma sings with the chorus at Briscoe, the First Baptist Church choir, and has sung with the North Shore Honors Chorus. Thank you so much to the staff at NSMT for giving me this opportunity! Thanks to the teachers and staff at Briscoe for supporting me and accommodating me with this busy theatre schedule. Love to my Mom, Dad, Dwight and Faith. Daniel Berardi (Turkey Boy) WFM NSMT: A Christmas Carol '98-'00, Fiddler on the Roof, A Midsummer Night's Dream. ELSEWHERE: Daniel is in 6th grade at Georgetown M.H. S. He feels very fortunate to be back with his NSMT family. Thanks Casey! He has just completed shooting his first independent film, The Perfect Goosey's by Andrew Mudge, in which he plays George Goosey, Jr. Daniel also performs with the Georgetown Royals Stage Ensemble and at the Firehouse Center in Newburyport. Daniel realizes how many people it takes to get him everywhere he needs to be and would like to thank them all very much. They are making his dreams a reality. Love to Mom, Dad and big brother Joe.
Laurie Berich (Teen Caroler) WITH NSMT: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat , HONK!, Peter Pan, Annie, A Christmas Carol '98-‘00. ELSEWHERE: Favorite roles are those right here at NSMT! Laurie just completed her role of Helen Keller in The Mirical Worker. She studies dance at Gene Murray's of Salem. Thanks to her family for their love and support and a special shout out to all her friends.
Ryan Buchanan (Tiny Tim Cratchit) WITH NSMT: A Christmas Carol '00, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ELSEWHERE: Ryan lives in Salem and is thrilled to be returning to NSMT as Tiny Tim. He made his debut as Linus in the Salem Children's Theatre production of You're a Good Man Charlie Brown in 1998 and first played Tiny Tim in Salem High School's 1999 production of A Christmas Carol. Ryan has been attending NSMT's camps when he was 5 years old, and has appeared at several events as a member of the NSMT Children's Choir, including this year's Gala/Auction. Ryan enjoys basketball, kickball and body surfing as well as riding his scooter and learning to play the Saxophone. Love to G.A.A.
Katie Geraghty (Ignorance/Want) WITH NSMT: Debut ELSEWHERE: A native of San Jose, CA, Katie is excited about her debut at NSMT! She is studying piano and ballet, and aspires to future roles in The Nutcracker Ballet. Katie was inspired to audition after seeing this summer's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She hopes her start with A Christmas Carol will lead to many new opportunities with NSMT and elsewhere! (P.S. Katie really hopes to be in The Wizard Of Oz this summer, as well!)
Amelia Jones (Ignorance/Want) WITH NSMT: A Christmas Carol ‘99-‘00 ELSEWHERE: Amelia is excited to be returning to her third season at NSMT in A Christmas Carol. She is a 7 1/2 year old second grade homeschooler who loves to sing, dance, draw, and play her violin. Some of her roles include Tiny Alice in ‘Alice in Wonderland' and various roles in The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid, Snow White and Heidi at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre in Portsmouth. She loved her role in Sentimental Journey with the Newton Country Players last winter. She has performed at the Firehouse Theatre in Newburyport in The King and I and will be singing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat there next spring. She can currently be seen in a station promotion for NH PBS. She sends her love to her family and friends. Amelia will most likely be looking for her two front teeth this Christmas.
Marissa Konstadt (Belinda Cratchit) WITH NSMT: HONK!, A Christmas Carol ‘98 -‘00, Children of Eden. ELSEWHERE: Marissa is 12 years old and in the Collins Middle School in Salem. Marissa has played Annie at the ‘99 North Shore Jewish Community Center's production of Annie, and she danced in the ‘97 production of The Nutcracker at the Ballet Theatre of Boston. Matt Marquart (Turkey Boy) WITH NSMT: Fiddler on the Roof, Honk!, A Christmas Carol ‘99 ELSEWHERE: Matt played Will Rogers Jr. in Will Rogers Follies. Matt's most recent roll Kurt in The Sound of Music. Matt is very excited to be back at NSMT for A Christmas Carol. A seventh grader at the Briscoe Middle School in Beverly, Matt enjoys being involved in school chorus, band and drama club. Other interests include studying the trumpet, running and playing soccer. He would like to thank his mother and father friends and teachers for their support.
Jessica McDonough (Fan) WITH NSMT: Annie, HONK!, Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ELSEWHERE: Jessica is overjoyed to be joining her friends at NSMT in her first Christmas Carol. She has been performing in school and community productions for many years. Some of her favorite roles have been Pepper in Annie, Baby Louise in Gypsy, Patty in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Oliver in Oliver!, Marta Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, Topsy and Siamese child in The King and I, Lady Lucille and understudy for Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress, and her first dramatic role as Rebecca Gibbs in Our Town. She studies voice with Steve Flynn and ballet with Gene Murray. Jessica wishes to dedicate this performance to her sister Lisa, her Mom and Dad, and Papa and Grandma!
Hope Milne (Ignorance/Want) WITH NSMT: Debut ELSEWHERE: A second grader at Cole Elementary School in Boxford, Hope has always loved to act and sing. Hope has attended summer theatre camp and drama classes. Hope is thrilled to make her debut with NSMT - a dream come true to actually perform on a real stage! Thank you to her family and friends for all their support, and a special thanks to Anne for her shameless plugs and tons of love.
Eric Murray (Peter Cratchit) WITH NSMT: Carousel, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ELSEWHERE: Eric is extremely excited to be back performing at NSMT where earlier thi sseason he was as the Heavenly Friend in Carousel and in the children's choir in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Besides acting, Eric enjoys playing guitar, Playstation 2 and eating at Burger King. Eric would like to thank all his family, friends and his awesome teacher Mr. Brumis for all their support.
Lacey Marie Thompson (Ignorance/Want) WITH NSMT: Debut ELSEWHERE: Lacey Marie is 4 years old. She just recently started dance/ballet classes. Lacey loves singing, dancing joking and discovering. With her debut here at NSMT she hopes to begin something wonderful!!
Greg Ganakas (Director/Choreographer) WITH NSMT: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, How to Succeed In Business..., Brigadoon, A Christmas Carol ‘93-‘00, Good News!, Oklahoma!, On the Town, Crazy For You, The Music Man, Annie ELSEWHERE: Greg has a repertoire of work that includes Broadway, regional and international credits. He has directed and choreographed two world premieres: The Times at Long Wharf Theatre and White Lies at the American Stage Company and the Triad in New York. His most recent credits include the award winning Goodspeed musical production of Brigadoon, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to The Forum at the American Musical Theatre of San José; Oklahoma! at the Ordway Music Theatre; the National Tour of Damn Yankees; George M! and The Pajama Game at Goodspeed Opera House; Brigadoon for Papermill Playhouse; Jesus Christ Superstar, The Sound of Music, and Camelot at Sacramento Civic Light Opera. He has had the privilege of working with such renowned artists as Agnes de Mille, Chita Rivera, Carol Channing, Betty Buckley, Jim Dale, Alexis Smith, Mary Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr., among others. His Evening with Gilbert and Sullivan with the Boston Pops and Beverly Sills, staged at Boston's Symphony Hall, can be seen on PBS's "Great Performances." He has created musical numbers for the ABC network and provided corporate entertainment packages for Oldsmobile, IBM, Proctor and Gamble, Disney Productions, Lever Brothers and American Express, as well as musical benefits for the American Cancer Society and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. He is currently on the faculty at New York University, where he is Artistic Director of Music Theatre for the School of Education's Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions.
Janet Glazener Roma (Music Director) WITH NSMT: Phantom ‘92 ELSEWHERE: Janet Roma is happy to be back at NSMT, where she was music director of Maury Yeston's Phantom!, and also worked on productions of Into the Woods, Children of Eden, Damn Yankees, and West Side Story. Her National Tour credits include Jerry's Girls with Carol Channing (music director; conducted the original cast album), Cats (music director),and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Sam Harris (music director). On Broadway, Janet was music director for Jerry's Girls with Chita Rivera and Dorothy Loudon. She was the associate conductor for the national tours of Aspects of Love, A Chorus Line, The King and I with Hayley Mills, and Sunset Blvd. with Petula Clark. Janet has just completed a run as music director for Moby Dick: An American Opera at Boston's New Repertory Theatre. She lives in Cohasset with her husband, drummer / percussionist Gene Roma.
Howard C. Jones (Scenic Designer): WITH NSMT: Carousel, Sweet Charity, Student Prince, Victor Victoria, Annie, The Will Rogers Follies, City of Angels, Guys and Dolls, Camelot, South Pacific, Nunsense 2, Showboat, Brigadoon, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and the annual production of A Christmas Carol.. ELSEWHERE: Mr. Jones is pleased to design Carousel for NSMT. He has been a member of the faculty of the North Carolina School of the Arts for the past five years. Before that he was the founder and owner of Cobalt Studios, an apprentice painting studio, in upstate New York. Other credits include Goodspeed Opera House, Starlight Theatre, Missouri Repertory Theatre, Civic Light Opera in Pittsburgh and the American Heartland Theatre. Life is good and just gets better. Thanks to Mom and Dad. Love to Jerry and the boys. And a big thanks to all my friends and peers who always check in to see "What I've done with the place now!"
Kendall Smith (Lighting Designer) WITH NSMT: Zorba, Oklahoma, Good news, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to tht Forum, Showboat, Little Me, A Christmas Carol ‘94-'00 ELSEWHERE: Mr. Smith returns for his seventh season at North Shore. Theatre credits include Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Studio Theatre DC, Geva Theatre, Sharon Stage, American Stage Festival, Pioneer Theatre in Salt Lake City and the Barter Theatre. Regional Opera companies include Michigan Opera Theatre, Virginia Opera, San Diego Opera, Opera Pacific, Boston Lyric and Dayton Opera Theatre.
Nancy Leary (Costume Designer) WITH NSMT: A Christmas Carol 1993-99, The Tempest, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Show Boat, Sweeney Todd, Phantom, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum ELSEWHERE: Originally from Nova Scotia, Nancy has costumed shows in both Canada and the U.S. for the past decade. She has designed Richard III, Merry Wives of Windsor, Henry IV and A Midsummer Night's Dream for the Orlando Shakespeare Festival. Recently she has designed costumes for Rosmersholm at A.R.T. Institute and her first feature film, The Viewing for Out of Cake Productions.
John A. Stone (Sound Designer) WITH NSMT: Co-designed A Midsummer Night's Dream (1996), designed A Grand Night for Singing, Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night's Dream and the 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 musical seasons. ELSEWHERE: John received his bachelor's degree in physics and music at St. Lawrence University. He came to NSMT as an intern in 1995 and is now the sound supervisor and resident designer. John has also designed Bed and Sofa, The Fever, and Mere Mortals for the Nora Theatre Company in Cambridge. In his recent "spare time" he started Addison Audio, an equipment rental and design business intended to provide services to many area schools and organizations. He would like to thank Nancy and Dalya for their continued love and support.
Robert Levinstein* (Production Stage Manager) WITH NSMT: 2000: HONK!, Peter Pan, A Little Night Music, Sweet Charity, Fiddler on the Roof, A Christmas Carol. 2001: Carousel, Just So, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Letters from ‘Nam, Zorba, Miss Saigon ELSEWHERE: On Broadway, Waiting in the Wings (with the legendary Lauren Bacall), Voices in the Dark. Lincoln Center: Parade with Hal Prince. National Tour: Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Off-Broadway, Clue: The Musical. Pre-Broadway Workshop: The Jazz Singer. Robert was also the sub Stage Manager for Jackie Mason's: Much Ado About Everything. Robert is very happy to be returning to North Shore Music Theatre for a second Season. Along with his New York credits, he has worked on the west coast with Disneyland's staged productions of The Spirit of Pocahontas and Hunchback of Notre Dame, Festival of Fools. Robert has over 3 years of touring experience with Mark Edelman's Theatre League, working with such celebrities as Lanie Kazan, Lennie Wolpe, Gary Sandy, Debbie Gravitte and the Little Mermaid herself, Jodie Benson.
Jon Kimbell (Artistic Director / Executive Producer) Mr. Kimbell is the recipient of the 2001 New England Theatre Conference Major Award - For Outstanding Achievement In The American Theatre and Salem State College's Lifetime Achievement Award for 2001. During his 19 years at the helm of North Shore Music Theatre, he, in partnership with a dedicated Board of Trustees and a superior staff, has turned NSMT into one of the finest musical theaters in the country, built an audience that is one of the largest in New England, and propelled the Music Theatre into the first rank of theaters nationally, both in size and in the quality of its productions. His responsibilities for NSMT include the artistic direction and long range planning of the organization, as well as commissioning and development of new musical theatre works with Associate Producer John La Rock. Mr. Kimbell is a founding member of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre, which was created in 1986 to encourage the development of new musicals, and recently co-chaired the Alliance's International Festival of New Musicals, presented in New York City each September. He has directed or produced most major musicals, much of the Shakespeare canon, and-as a passionate believer in the development of new musicals -the premieres of 20 musical theatre works. In 1999 the New England Theatre Conference named him the winner of the 38th Annual Moss Hart Award for his direction of NSMT's musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol, which he also co-wrote and which is now in it's 13th record-breaking year of production. He has recently served as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts Access Panel, the New Hampshire Commission on the Arts, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Ohio Arts Council and the Cultural Arts Council of Houston. His other credits include work as an evaluator and consultant with the National Endowment for the Arts Opera/Musical Theatre, Challenge Grant and Theater programs, the New England Foundation for the Arts, the New Hampshire Touring Program, the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), and the U.S. Department of the Interior. Mr. Kimbell is a graduate of the University of South Dakota and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
James K. Polese (Executive Director) has served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Music Theatre since 1983, overseeing all fiscal and administrative operations. In addition to these duties, Mr. Polese is the key negotiator for the Music Theatre's highly successful Celebrity Concert and Children's Musicals series. Outside of the Music Theatre, Mr. Polese has just finished serving a term as the president of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) after serving one term as the Secretary of NAMT and as a member of the Finance and Development committees for four years. Through his leadership and 8 years on the board, the NAMT membership has grown and the new works program continues to build exciting new partnerships between member producing organizations. Mr. Polese also served on the National Endowment for the Arts' Theater and Musical Theater Creation and Presentation Panel. In the community, Mr. Polese is a member of the corporation of Beverly Hospital and a member of the Executive Committee and a Commissioner of the Essex National Heritage Commission. He also serves on the Capital Campaign Advisory Committee of the Center for Addictive Behaviors and has recently been elected to the North Shore Chamber of Commerce. He was a vital force in planning and implementing the expansion of the Music Theatre in 1988-89, creating a first rate, state-of-the-art facility for the creation of classic and new musicals. Mr. Polese is strongly committed to providing the community with education, cultural activities and access for all members of the community.
