Karl is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and now resides in Los Angeles, CA. He is a former champion competitive diver. He has appeared in the World Tour of Fosse starring Ben Vereen and Ruthie Henshall as well as the National Tours of The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Cats (Macavity), and Chicago. Regional credits include Anything Goes (Pursor), Seven Brides... (Ephraim) at Goodspeed, Footloose (Ren McCormack) and Corpus Christi (James). You can see him in The Producers movie alongside Uma Thurman. Karl has also appeared as a Principal Singer, Acrobat and Dancer onboard the Norwegian Dawn. On Broadway he also produced Inner City, Father's Day, and No Hard Feelings, as well as co-writing and co-producing the Tony®nominated stage musical of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. During the '40s and '50s, he contributed to several Hollywood film scores, most notably In the Navy, Keep 'Em Flying, Moonlight in Hawaii, When Johnny Comes Marching Home, Broadway Rhythm, A Date With Judy, A Song is Born, So Dear to My Heart, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Li'l Abner. Master Teacher of stage combat at Juilliard, Rutgers University, and The Lee Strasberg Institute, Allen is also a Broadway veteran of nine shows, over 150 Off-Broadway shows, and hundreds of Regional Theater shows from Seattle to Denver to Baltimore and Miami. For television, Allen has worked on over 750 episodes, both in network studios and on locations such as Jamaica, Arizona, and Buenos Aires. | THEATRE UNDER THE STARS (TUTS). Founded in 1968 by Frank M. Young, TUTS was the first theatrical organization in Houston to perform free to the public in 1968 at Miller Outdoor Theatre. Since its founding, TUTS has produced more than 275 musicals including many local, national and world premieres including Disney's Beauty and the Beast. TUTS is also noted for mounting many International tours, including Debbie Reynolds in The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Juliet Prowse in Mame, and Robert Goulet in Man of La Mancha. Now more than 1,700 students annually receive musical theatre training through TUTS' Humphreys School of Musical Theatre. TUTS also annually presents the Tommy Tune Awards, honoring the best and brightest in Houston's high school musical theatre programs. |
