Ages 7 to 10: Beginner Dance Techniques [REGISTER HERE]
Gotta Dance…. Gotta Dance! Students will focus on the fundamental techniques in ballet, tap, jazz and musical theatre styles. Each day will concentrate on a specific dance technique allowing students to establish a crucial understanding of each of the popular dance styles used for staging musical numbers. PLEASE NOTE: Tap, ballet and jazz shoes are required for this class.
Ages 11 to 14: Know Your Score: Music Reading Skills for the Actor [REGISTER HERE]
To be part of a musical without music reading ability is like not being able to read words, and being handed a script to read aloud. This course is designed to demystify written music, whether formatted as a lead sheet, a song with piano accompaniment, or a show score with several vocal lines that include harmonies. Students will improve their musical literacy with this fun course!.
Ages 15 to 18: The Fundamentals of Stage Acting [REGISTER HERE]
To act, or not to act? That is the question. Whether straight acting, acting through song, or acting through dance it is important for an actor to embody the character that they play throughout every aspect of a musical theatre performance. Students will learn the fundamentals of acting through scene work and analysis, building a core foundation for further study.

Ages 11 to 14: Audition Techniques [REGISTER HERE]
Auditioning can be nerve racking as the moment you walk into a room your audition starts. In this class students, will explore the techniques and methods used to prepare them for their best audition. Students will select and prepare monologues and audition songs, learn the perfect Slate, and practice cold readings to ensure that they are prepared to ace the audition.
Ages 15 to 18: Movement for the Stage [REGISTER HERE]
Acting encompasses your whole body. Using modern movement techniques, students will learn how to incorporate physical acting into their toolbox to help create a more dynamic stage presence.

At NSMT, we believe that a modern day actor should have a toolbox filled with true and steadfast techniques and methods used on the stage. Our conservatory style program concentrates on providing students the necessary tools to become a triple threat and well-rounded actor/actress. Students will hone their skills in acting, singing and dancing, while engaging with their peers, building on the areas critical to their development such as: critical thinking, collaboration, public speaking, time management and social development. We also believe that theatre should be accessible to any student who chooses to participate and encourage them to begin their artistic journey, regardless of their level of experience.
