A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire. An unforgettable theatrical experience filled with powerful music, compelling performances, and timeless themes of love, loyalty, power and betrayal, the iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.” Whether you are a long-time fan of the musical or new to its story, this production promises to captivate and inspire. Voices of Hope is a not-for-profit community of artists who raise funds for cancer research thru theatrical performance, and has been bringing its powerful and moving performances to NSMT since 2013 when JC Superstar was its first NSMT production. Now in its 16th season, Voices of Hope has donated more than one million dollars, contributing to the ever-growing source of treatment options that continue to give hope to their vision of a cancer free world.
