FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is the best way to contact the education department? The best way to contact the education department is via email at [email protected]. You can also call the office (978) 232-7200 x 7289. What does my child need to bring/wear to class? Students should bring a water bottle and snack to class. For weeklong classes, students should bring 2 snacks and a lunch. Students should wear comfortable clothes that they are able to move in and closed toe shoes. If a student is participating in a dance class, students should wear dance appropriate shoes (i.e. tap shoes, ballet shoes, etc.) as noted in class descriptions. Does my child need any theater experience to participate in class? Your child does not need any previous experience and we strongly encourage all skill levels to participate in our classes. What does a typical class structure look like? Classes will begin with a warm-up/check-in, and then move into a short review of the previous week’s lesson. Students will then participate in a main activity/focus for that lesson and then end with a reflection/cool down. What happens during inclement weather? If there is inclement weather, NSMT will send an email regarding whether classes are cancelled or not. We will also post a message on the education page on our website. We will make every effort to have a makeup class if time and space allows for it in the schedule. No refunds/credits will be applied if classes are cancelled due to weather. Will there be a performance at the end of class? Yes, there will be a demonstration of the skills learned on the last class of the session. The demos are not a full production unless otherwise noted in the class description. The last class is still a working class, so a typical demonstration will include a warm-up, a few games, a demonstration of work done (scene, dance or song) and a cool down. They will be no longer than 30 minutes. What is your refund policy? NSMT does not refund your class but will hold your payment for a future class credit in our system. Discounted courses must be ordered by phone 978-232-7200 x7289. Discounts cannot be combined.

At NSMT, we believe that a modern day actor should have a toolbox filled with true and steadfast techniques and methods used on the stage. Our conservatory style program concentrates on providing students the necessary tools to become a triple threat and well-rounded actor/actress. Students will hone their skills in acting, singing and dancing, while engaging with their peers building on the areas critical to their development such as: critical thinking, collaboration, public speaking, time management, and social development. We also believe that theatre should be accessible to any student who chooses to participate and encourage them to begin their artistic journey regardless of their level of experience.
